GSC FAQ's

How do I receive GSC-related communication?

All members must create an account on our GSC website in order to receive most emails and also to register for programs and events. The account should include all family members with children’s birthdates. Once you have created the family account, the emails you enter will receive club communications.

How do I access my GSC member account to pay bills?

Click on the blue member billing account button on the right side of the home page. You will need your member # (found on your monthly bill) and your last name is your password.

How do I propose a family to join the GSC?

The Board of Governors strongly encourages full current members to propose candidates who will actively participate in the club's figure skating and hockey programs and volunteer for various club activities. You may sponsor 2 families at once. Perspective members must live in Greenwich or have children that attend school in Greenwich. The application process includes an application for mem- bership completed by the candidate and a letter from the proposer. Please see the "Admissions" area on the home page for more details.

Please refer to the Admissions tab for procedures and for an application or if you have any questions, please contact the Admissions Chairperson, gscadmis- sions@greenwichskatingclub.org.

How do I get my skates sharpened?

GSC can sharpen skates on site. Please bring your skates to the closet in the upstairs skate sharpening room at GSC and fill out a skate tag. Attach the tag to one of the skates and place your skates in the closet. (It is a good idea to put your last name somewhere on your skates just to avoid confusion). Your GSC account will be billed $7 for each pair of skates. Please allow for a 24 hour turnaround.

When is the earliest my child can participate in GSC programs?

The GSC Learn to Skate programs begin at age 3. GSC offers Figure Skating lessons from the Learn to Skate level, Badge Skills and Free Skate Badge levels. If a child is interested in hockey, he or she can participate in Mini Mites once he or she can skate forward. Registration for Figure Skating and Mini mites typically opens in late September/early October and classes begin when the rink opens in early-mid November.

What is the Travel Development League?

Travel Development League is an enhanced version of the Outdoor Hockey League (GSC House League). It is open to boys and girls ages 8-14 who do not play on another travel hockey team. There will be a practice every Saturday and a game every Sunday, all at GSC. TDL will focus on skill development and fun competition. Registration for TDL typically opens in late September/early Octo- ber and classes begin when the rink opens in early-mid November.

What is the GSC Travel program?

Our Travel teams offer players with stronger skills a more intense experience and the opportunity to compete at the highest levels in the State and beyond. GSC typically offers 2-3 teams for Squirts, PeeWees and Bantams which usually equates to 8-10 teams. Tryouts are held in the spring, after our season has ended. We also offer 1-2 teams for Girls U10, U12 and U14, U16 and U19 through our Stateline Hawks partnership with Mamaroneck. And finally, we have a robust mite program with 8-10 Mite teams, structured so all Mites make a team. Mite tryouts are held in the fall, right around Labor Day.

Once my child becomes a registered GSC player, how does our family keep up-to-date about the program?

The website is updated regularly and emails are sent through the website. If your child is assigned to a travel team, you will receive updates from your team man- agers and coaches through the website and team app.

There will be 6 teams with a cap of 19 players per team, and a max of 15 players per game. The goal is to have A, B, C lines playing against each other each game.
