$1,100,000 Capital Campaign to Fund Construction of a New Clubhouse
January 6, 2016
Dear Member,
After an exhaustive review, several years of planning and the incorporation of significant feedback from the membership, the Board of Governors has voted to pursue the next phase of the Master Plan – the construction of a new clubhouse. The new clubhouse is designed with a greatly improved infrastructure to meet our long-term needs and preserve the character and charm of the Club we love. We plan to begin construction in March of 2016 and anticipate completion before the beginning of the following season.
Total cost for this phase is expected to be $4.0 to $4.5 million. We will fund the project through: (1) a mortgage, (2) a one-time $1,500 assessment per family and (3) gifts from members. We have already raised $800,000 in donations from over 70 current member families. We are now focusing on the final $300,000 from the membership at large and former members, and friends of the Club. The Board and Committees have 100% participation and we have set an ambitious goal of 100% membership participation. We can easily meet this goal through broad participation at any level. We hope that you will consider supporting this effort.
We would like to thank those current and former member families that have helped initiate the fundraising drive to date and have included a list of those supporters on the following page. In recognition of our members support a tasteful plaque will be displayed in the new clubhouse. Tiers will be recognized as follows:
Tiers:
1980 US Olympic Team –$30,000 and above
The Real Winter Classic – $20,000 to $29,999
Jump and Spin – $10,000 to $19,999
Friday Night Lights – $5,000 to $9,999
Free Hockey – $2,500 to $4,999
General Skate – $1,000 to $2,499
Snack Bar – Up to $999
Please reach out to Barbara Williams, bwilliams@gcds.net or members of the Board or Capital Campaign Committee for further instructions.
Please note that the GSC is a 501(c)7 tax-exempt organization. As a result, we do NOT believe that your gift would qualify for a tax deduction under income tax laws. Obviously, you should confirm this with your tax advisor.
If you should have any questions related to the capital campaign, the construction project or any other GSC matters, please feel free to reach out to anyone on the Board.
A fundraising committee has been established and includes the following current and former members and club officers:
